Objective, strategy and impact
IDAY, International Day of the African child and Youth, is an international ASBL created in 2008 at the request of several African civil associations. The idea of IDAY is to gather in an international network to act together for a common objective: a quality education in the respect of the rights of the child for all the African youth.

IDAY’s approach has proven its efficiency by the implementation of hundreds of successful achievements during the last 14 years. As a non-exhaustive example, we present below some projects that have been successfully initiated and developed by the IDAY network.
Each example highlights the SDGs on which the project has an impact.
What can we learn from these examples?
The above examples clearly illustrate that by strengthening the input of local actors, by developing the network effect, by raising awareness among the populations, and by conducting effective and credible advocacy campaigns with the concerned actors, the IDAY network manages to :
> Induce concrete actions having a direct impact for many beneficiaries
> Generate a local sense of responsibility on the operational and financial level
> Create a network of collective actions involving the concerned actors
> Transform local efforts into global actions, creating an exponential positive effect in the beneficiary countries.
By relying on the IDAY network, the members acquire a wider expertise on different subjects, a more significant impact and a power to develop actions. They also have more weight and credibility in the discussions with the authorities and other stakeholders. And in turn, the network itself is strengthened by these specific initiatives.
This model creates a powerful virtuous spiral that benefits a large number of local beneficiaries.
