Meeting with HE Uhuru Kenyatta in Brussels
IDAY had the honor to meet the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, during a meeting organized by the CBL-ACP Chamber of Commerce of which we are members. During the 15′ question and answer session, we had the opportunity to speak about the network, the work of IDAY-Kenya as a civil society, the expertise acquired on Artemisia annua and the MOU with Kenyatta University. We offered a package of Artemisia to the President who was very touched by this gesture and who showed interest in meeting IDAY-Kenya to go further and learn more about the research conducted by Kenyatta University on the plant. The coordinates were exchanged. Several contacts were then taken with different persons of his delegation, in particular the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industrialization (possibility of win-win partnerships with Kenyan companies), the president of the Private Sector Alliance and the Kenyan ambassador in Belgium. IDAY-Kenya and the secretariat will of course follow up these contacts concerning the Artemisia, the school gardens but also another important field of expertise, namely the protection and training of domestic workers.
