Example 3 – Pan Africain Raising quality of education by creating school gardens
Country: 14 countries Total cost: 382.000 € (2018-2021)
Since 2011, IDAY integrates school health in its strategy for a quality education for all. Convinced that health plays a major role in learning, IDAY introduces plants with high nutritional and medicinal value, including Artemisia annua, in the school gardens. It is a global approach (education, health, environment, community development) to fight against the cycle of deschooling and poverty, through a local solution: the ecological school garden. The school garden serves as a training space for students and teachers (green pedagogy) and also allows the community to benefit from the knowledge acquired (child for parent approach).
