A solar lamp for every family
How to do your homework at night when you live in a village on stilts?
Lake villages* are impossible to connect to the conventional electrical network, simply because they are on the water!
> IDAY-Benin had this great idea: a solar lamp for each family.
The principle is simple: the child recharges the lamp at school during the day and brings light in the home in the evening to do his homework, while being useful to the whole family. This creates a bridge between the parents and the school, decreases the risks of fire and respiratory diseases linked to fires.
*A lake city, or lake village, is a village built on a lake, pond or marsh, or on a shoreline frequently flooded by rising water. The houses are built on stilts, and sometimes even float.
